M2LBA Alpha - UI Recap
M2LBA User Interface (Alpha) |
Just before I begin the system migration process, I thought It would be a good idea to briefly recap what end users should expect for the user interface of the current development version of Mega Mixable Live: Baltica (M2LBA) Alpha, and how it differs from the M2L titles on the market.
This has been discussed here too:
Yes, it is true that M2LBA draws its inspiration from the codebase of M2L. However, the intention was not just to create something that was an artistic variant, but also to add new functionality where necessary.
As a result of that, I arrived at what I'm calling the 'Alpha' version of the deck interface, as I feel that this will serve as a foundation to further changes before release.
Based on the image above, we will now explore the current UI following the numbers:
1) HUD Section: The HUD (Heads-up Display) for the M2LBA deck looks significantly different from what we've seen in M2L. It now adopts a minimalistic design that focuses on using icons to convey meanings to end users. It also uses a digital clock font to further emphasise this. The HUD is now on the left side of the deck where the vinyl disk used to be. Furthermore, the HUD now displays a flag as well as a 3 letter language code to let end users know which language is selected.
2) Vinyl disk section: This area brings in some curious changes with the addition of a second vinyl disk. The size of each disk has been reduced to welcome this change. While the exact functionality of each disk will not be discussed in this post, it is safe to say that end users should expect something different from what exists in M2L. The screen record and theme changer buttons have also been moved to this section.
3) Board functions: This area has been relocated to the top right corner of the deck. As of the current alpha version, the board functions will remain the same as what we've seen in M2L.
4) TTS (Text-to-Speech area): This has adopted the icon based display that is seen in the HUD section. Aside from that ? The functionality will be the same as what is seen in M2L.
5) Percussion Area: What currently exists (as seen in the image above) is merely a clone of the current percussion instruments seen in M2L. Even the arrangement is seemingly unchanged. This area will see some massive changes prior to the release of M2LBA.
What about themes ?
The coloured themes will be returning to M2LBA. However the pictorial themes will be completely different to what we've seen in M2L as well as M2LD. This I believe will make a huge difference to the overall artistic presentation of the application.
In the previous blog post, I mentioned how I was eager to get back to developing M2LBA later this year. This is true. I simply cannot wait to get back to the lab and get this title completed and published.
For those who have been patient regarding all the delays ? Once again THANK YOU.
